Erasure released this song in 1988. I heard it yesterday on the car ride home from the beach. My wife and I broke into a seated car dance and subsequently sang the song at the top of our lungs until we almost missed our exit. Then she yelled at me. (Just kidding, she gently reminded me to pay more attention next time).
Please, listen to the original.
Today is Memorial Day and I’d like to remember and thank all of those that have given all for our freedoms and all of those who have moved beyond this world. We remember you. There is a line in this song: “we can make love, not war/and live at peace with our hearts” that holds true.
I’d like to dedicate this song to one of my first Substack friends
who is an incredible writer and just a wonderful person. Keith is remembering people today and I know this day isn’t easy. I hope this song brings a little joy to you and also lets you know that you’re remembered my friend.
